Each year, the DC Black MBA Association awards individuals and corporations that have demonstrated the values of the organization and made a significant impact in their community, particularly for the benefit of African-Americans. 

Recipients of these awards represent a distinguished group of individuals and companies that contribute to economic empowerment, financial literacy, educational advancement and youth development.

2019 Legacy Award

Karen Williamson

This is awarded to a chapter member who has demonstrated significant contributions to the charter and mission of the Chapter.

Ms. Williamson earned an A.B. degree in economics from Wellesley College and an M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Chicago. While at Chicago, she helped organize the first black MBA student conferences in 1970 and 1971. In New York, she helped found the National Black MBA Association and served as the organization’s first vice president and is a lifetime member.
